Oyo Assembly Passes Road Management Bill

The Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday passed into law, the state Road Traffic Management Authority (Amendment)Bill 2018 after scaling through the third reading.
The Plenary which was presided over by the Speaker, Right Hon Olagunju Ojo passed the bill after the presentation of the report of the Joint Committee on Works, Transport and Health on Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority chaired by Hon Michael Sangodipe.
After the presentation of the Report, the House constituted itself into the committee of the whole to consider the bill clause by clause before the passage of the bill.
Meanwhile, Hon Gbenga Oyekola has called on the executive arm and relevant agencies to monitor the activities of event centres and Shopping Malls in the state.
This was followed by a motion moved by Hon Gbenga Oyekola, representing Atiba State Constituency titled “Need to Regularise Activities of Event Centre and Shopping Malls”
Hon Oyekola charged the executive arm of government to ensure that owner of these event centres and shopping malls are called to other and strictly follow the laws attached to citing of event centres and shopping malls.
He noted that some of these centres were not properly approved before operation.
In her contribution, Hon Bimbo Oladeji said for the fact that establishment of these centres improves the economy, it should not be done to the detriment of the people.
A 7 member ad-hoc committee led by the Majority leader, Hon Kehinde Subair has been set up to further carry out investigation on the motion.
