Pupil Killed, Three Cars Burnt, Three Blocks Of Classrooms Burnt In Oyo School Violence

The violence that erupted in Olodo Community Grammar School in Oyo state which claimed the life of a pupil during the week end has led to the closure of the School on Monday.

Our correspondent learnt that the conflict between the students who clashed with miscreants and hoodlums from the town over some female students led to arson where some school properties were set ablaze and a pupil lost his life

Three cars and three blocks of classroom were burnt down with 17 years old pupil killed before order was restored,.it was confirmed on Monday.

The Police confirmed that some arrests have been made adding that order has been restored.

Police also called on residents of the community to go about their duties without any fear adding that that they are on top of the situation.

Also,the State Government in a statement by the Ag. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Ibironke Fatoki said that the school was shut over the incident of arson

Mrs. Fatoki stated that the government has set up a six-man administrative investigative panel to examine the immediate and remote causes of the incident, adding that the panel is expected to submit its report in seven working days.

She disclosed that a block of 3 classrooms and four cars were burnt during the protest, adding that one life was also lost during the two days of mayhem.

The Baale of the Community, Deacon A.Adejobi called for calm among the youths in the town.
