Osun At 34: Babajide Omoworare As The Beacon of Hope For The Struggling State By Adeboye Adebayo
As Osun State marks its 34th anniversary of creation on August 27, 1991, it is a time for celebration and reflection. The Land of the Living Spring has survived political, economic, and social turbulence, yet its people remain resilient, enduring, and hopeful. But as the state moves deeper into its fourth decade, the questions grow louder: why has Osun remained a docile, civil-service-dependent state? Why has it not fully harnessed its resources to create industries, jobs, and prosperity?
Osun is richly blessed with vast arable land, industrious youth, cultural heritage, and even a unique energy advantage with the National Control Centre of Nigeria’s electricity grid in Osogbo.
Land is available, labour is available, power is relatively accessible. Yet the state is still struggling to attract industries, create sustainable jobs, commercialize agriculture, and build a dynamic economy.
For too long, Osun has depended almost entirely on federal allocation, leaving it vulnerable to shocks and unable to sustain ambitious projects. Agriculture remains largely subsistence. Youth unemployment is high. Infrastructure gaps persist. And the promise of a socioeconomic transformation has remained elusive.
At 34, Osun stands at a crossroads: will it continue as a struggling civil service state, or finally rise as an economic hub that harnesses its immense potentials?
Today, Osun has a rare opportunity it cannot afford to miss. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is deliberately designed to empower states to industrialize, diversify their economies, and create jobs. With clear focus on infrastructure, industrial hubs, agriculture, SMEs, and human capital development, the federal government has opened a new chapter of possibilities but only states with visionary, competent, and aligned leadership will fully benefit.
Osun must not allow the next four years under Tinubu to pass without leveraging this national agenda. To miss it would be to condemn the state to yet another cycle of stagnation.
In this defining moment, Senator Babajide Omoworare stands tall as the beacon of hope Osun needs. A progressive to the core, Omoworare has a proven record of service as a lawmaker, reformer, and community builder.
His years in the Senate were marked by advocacy for development, youth empowerment, and infrastructural facilitation across Osun East and beyond.
More importantly, Omoworare has the vision, capacity, and political alignment to unlock Osun’s long-awaited prosperity. He understands that:
Industrialization and Job Creation can be driven by leveraging Osogbo’s energy infrastructure to attract manufacturing, agro-processing, and technology-based industries.
Agricultural Transformation must move beyond subsistence to full commercial ventures in cocoa, cassava, poultry, and aquaculture, with complete value chains that create wealth and exports.
Human Capital Development is central, equipping youths with technical, vocational, and digital skills to thrive in a 21st-century economy.
Infrastructure Renewal in roads, transportation, water, and digital systems will open Osun to investors and opportunities.
Socioeconomic Reforms through public-private partnerships and support for SMEs will diversify revenue sources and energize local businesses.
The governorship race of 2026 is not just another election; it is a destiny-defining moment for Osun. The next four years will coincide directly with Tinubu’s presidency, a golden window for federal/state synergy.
For Osun, that synergy can only be guaranteed if the state is led by a competent APC governor who shares Tinubu’s progressive vision and has the capacity to deliver.
That governor is Babajide Omoworare.
His candidacy represents more than ambition; it represents the bridge between Osun’s untapped potential and the opportunities of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
With Omoworare in government, Osun will not only align with Tinubu’s national drive but also harness it to finally break free from decades of economic docility.
At 34, Osun cannot continue to endure stagnation. The sacrifices and patience of its people must now translate into prosperity. The state must not waste the next four years; years that could define its future for decades to come.
Senator Babajide Omoworare is the beacon of hope, the tested progressive, and the visionary leader who can lead Osun into rapid, all-round development.
With his leadership under APC, Osun can finally move from a struggling civil service state into a productive, industrial, and economically vibrant hub.
Osun at 34 must mark not just endurance, but renewal with Babajide Omoworare as the driver of that transformation.
