Reward For Loyalty: Why APC Guber Ticket Should Be Given To Senator Omoworare By Adeboye Adebayo

As the political tempo builds towards the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is presented with a crucial opportunity, not just to win power, but to define the character of leadership and reward consistency, loyalty, and competence.
In this context, few names resonate with such integrity and longstanding commitment as Senator Babajide Christopher Omoworare, a statesman whose political journey has been marked by loyalty, humility, and unblemished service.
Senator Omoworare, a two-term federal lawmaker and legal consultant, stands out not only for his achievements but also for his refusal to compromise progressive ideals for fleeting gains.
In an era where many drift between platforms for personal interest, Omoworare has remained firmly rooted in the progressive family, from the days of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) to the Action Congress (AC), ACN and now the APC.
His unshaken loyalty to the party, its leadership, and the people of Osun East is not just commendable, it is exemplary.
Coming from a lineage of patriotism and public service, Omoworare’s grounding is both political and principled. His father, late Chief Joseph Larewaju Omoworare, was an educationist and grassroots politician, while his mother, late Princess Teniade Areoye Omoworare, was a granddaughter of the legendary *Ooni Adesoji Aderemi,* the first Black African governor and a visionary who helped establish the University of Ife.
These noble roots shaped Omoworare into a leader guided by service, not self-interest.
He began his legislative career in Lagos, representing Ifako-Ijaiye in the State House of Assembly between 1999 and 2007, rising to become Majority Leader.
He survived politically motivated violence in 2005 that nearly cost him his life; an incident that only deepened his commitment to the progressive cause.
In 2011, Osun East Senatorial District (Ife/Ijesha) elected him to the Nigerian Senate, where he served until 2019.
During his tenure, Senator Babajide Christopher Omoworare delivered impactful representation marked by landmark achievements:
*Legislative Contributions:* Sponsored five bills, including the “Prison Decongestion Bill,” which awaited presidential assent.
He also co-sponsored numerous bills and motions, particularly around judiciary, police, and prison reforms.
*Educational Initiatives:* Renovated schools and town halls within his constituency.
Provided scholarships and sponsored job clinics.
Distributed UTME and NECO forms to indigent students.
Organized free summer schools to enhance learning opportunities.
*Healthcare Services:* Held free Family Health Fairs to provide accessible medical care.
*Economic Empowerment:* Facilitated cooperative societies among traders.
Supported local businesses with financial assistance.
*Youth Development:* Sponsored 25 youths for leadership/exchange programs in the U.S.
Enabled young entrepreneurs to attend the UK Trade & Investment program in Sheffield.
*Infrastructure Projects:* Championed the multimillion-naira Ipetu-Ijesa Waterworks project to solve water scarcity in the region.
*Community Engagement:* Held monthly constituency meetings across LGAs to listen and respond directly to constituents.
For his outstanding legislative work and unwavering service, he was deservedly conferred with the *Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON)* by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
During his time in the National Assembly, Omoworare also returned unutilized travel allowances, setting a high bar for transparency.
He was a voice for accountability, advocating for subsidy regime probes and rejecting questionable budget lines.
When the succession battle to replace Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola emerged in 2018, Omoworare declared interest but chose unity over ambition.
Upon learning of the party’s preference for another candidate; Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, he withdrew without bitterness and threw his full weight behind the APC flagbearer, mobilizing structures and erecting billboards for Oyetola across the state.
That moment exemplified his trademark commitment to party cohesion and maturity in leadership.
He has never needed controversy or political drama to stay relevant; he thrives on results, humility, and integrity.
As APC strategizes ahead of 2026, this is a defining moment. The party must send a strong message to its faithful: that steadfast loyalty, capacity, and a clean record will be honored. Omoworare represents these ideals, and in him lies a golden opportunity to offer Osun a governor that truly reflects the values the party holds dear.
The time is now.
Jide Is Ready
The opportunity is ripe.
Osun deserves Babajide Omoworare.
