Osun 2026: Why I'm Convinced Senator Babajide Omoworarre Will Fly APC Flag By Adeboye Adebayo

When Senator Babajide Omoworare began his ongoing public consultation tour across Osun State, starting from Ifelodun, Boripe, and Odo-Otin Federal Constituency, it became clear that a fresh political awakening had begun within the progressive fold.

The atmosphere at the Inisa meeting, presided over by elder statesman Comrade Poju Olusola, was electrifying, not because it was another routine political gathering, but because Omoworare came prepared, confident, and unambiguous about his mission.

He stood before party leaders, including Chief Oyedokun and several other respected stalwarts, and declared with conviction: “I want to be Governor.” There was no hesitation, no political ambiguity, only clarity of purpose and a deep sense of responsibility.

He spoke of his pedigree, his journey as a five-star general in the Bola Ahmed Tinubu School of Politics, Bourdillon Campus, and his readiness to restore the progressive values that defined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in its finest years.

That bold declaration marked the beginning of what is now a fast-rising wave of grassroots enthusiasm for the man many now see as the most prepared aspirant in the Osun 2026 Governorship Race.

From Inisa to Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency, Senator Omoworarre’s message has been consistent, to bring true progressivism back to governance in Osun State. His engagements have been less about empty promises and more about reviving the ideals of inclusivity, discipline, and people-oriented leadership that once distinguished the APC.

During his tour of the Ede axis, the show of love and endorsement from party faithful was overwhelming.

Present were respected political leaders such as Alhaji Azeez Ajao, Ajibade Falade, Muftau Oyewale, Prof. Mojeed Alabi, Prince Oyebamiji, Abiodun Awolola, Babatunde Ibirogba (Eleniyan), Prince Ajibade, the Senatorial Youth Leader, and all Local Government and LCDA Chairmen across Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo. Their presence reflected not just political courtesy but genuine belief in his vision for Osun.

In their remarks, leaders spoke glowingly about his intellect, humility, and loyalty. Hon. Omoyele of Ede North described him as “a true progressive of the Awolowo and Tinubu political tradition,” while Abiodun Awolola of Egbedore reaffirmed his long-standing support, saying, “I have always been part of this project because I believe Senator Babajide Omoworarre stands out as the best among equals.”

The women and youths were equally emphatic. Alhaja Sherifatu Adekanmi, representing the women, prayed for his success and urged him to remember women when forming his government. Comrade Osama, the Osun West Senatorial Youth Leader, lauded his courage and administrative capacity, assuring that all youths across the senatorial district would mobilize to ensure his emergence. He described Omoworarre as “a direct disciple of President Bola Tinubu who embodies the Renewed Hope vision.”

Capping the event, Prof. Mojeed Alabi, a respected scholar and political stalwart, praised Omoworarre’s leadership qualities, calling him a bridge-builder and statesman whose emergence as governor would be a blessing to Osun State.

He added that the APC “will never regret giving him the ticket because he represents integrity, intellect, and inclusivity.”

These testimonies are not ordinary endorsements. They are reflections of long-standing trust in a man who has been consistent through the years, loyal to the progressive cause, disciplined in conduct, and dependable in public service.

As a former Senator who distinguished himself in the National Assembly, Omoworarre brings a blend of legislative experience, administrative depth, and grassroots connection that few can match.

During his Ifelodun-Boripe-Odo-Otin consultation, Omoworare outlined his vision for Osun’s future with remarkable clarity. He identified food security, industrial revival, and youth empowerment as central to his policy agenda. He emphasized the need to revive farm settlements through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and to reignite the state’s agro-industrial capacity to create sustainable jobs.

“Food security is key to our survival as a people,” he said. “We must go back to the basic, to our farms. Our administration will revive the farm settlements, encourage agribusiness, and work with the private sector to create wealth and jobs.”

He also pledged to restore the leadership of the APC to its rightful foundation by returning it to genuine elders and party loyalists who have stood firm through the years.

According to him, “Leadership must be about service, not selfish ambition. As a fourth-generation member of the Afenifere progressive movement, I will ensure that leadership returns to the people who built the party from scratch.”

His message resonates deeply with party members who yearn for a return to order, purpose, and internal democracy within the APC.

For many, Omoworare represents a bridge between the founding fathers of progressivism in Osun and the new generation of youths and professionals eager to see governance redefined.

What makes his journey even more inspiring is his humility and accessibility despite his vast experience. He has remained close to the grassroots, building genuine relationships rather than transactional alliances. His approach has rekindled optimism among APC loyalists that the party can once again speak with one voice and reconnect with the people of Osun.

As someone who has closely observed Osun’s political trajectory, I am convinced that Senator Babajide Omoworare stands out among all aspirants. His experience, composure, and ideological clarity set him apart. He speaks not as a politician desperate for power but as a reformer determined to restore dignity to governance.

His loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his consistency as a progressive thinker make him the natural heir to the Tinubu political school; a dependable “foot general” of the Renewed Hope movement in Osun.

That is why I am certain, not by mere sentiment, but by conviction, that Senator Babajide Omoworare will fly the APC flag in the 2026 Osun Governorship Election. He embodies the ideals of service, sacrifice, and sincerity. He has the structure, the support, and the spirit of progressivism that Osun desperately needs at this defining moment.

In Omoworare, Osun has a leader who will govern with intellect and integrity. The APC has a candidate who will restore order and credibility to the party. And the people of Osun have a reason to believe again, that governance can be about the people, for the people, and by the people.

That is why I believe so firmly that when the dust of the primaries settles, Senator Babajide Omoworare will stand tall as the chosen flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the face of Osun’s renewed hope.
