Osun APC And Some Hard Home Truths By Abiodun Komolafe By abiodun KOMOLAFE

As the 2026 Osun State governorship election approaches, it is disturbing to see some aspirants within the All Progressives Congress (APC) engaging in the politics of deception by falsely claiming endorsements from prominent leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This is not just an insult to the intelligence of Osun people but a disgraceful display of political weakness, desperation, and a lack of integrity.

Endorsements in politics carry weight, but they are not fabricated out of thin air. When a true endorsement happens, it is backed by verifiable statements, public declarations, and sometimes official party structures. However, what we are witnessing is a shameful trend where some aspirants are deceiving the public with baseless claims, hoping to manipulate party members and electorates into believing they have the backing of top leaders.

How can an experienced leader like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a master strategist who understands the political landscape of Nigeria, endorse anyone at this stage?

The most annoying part of it is that some expected experienced politicians and acclaimed leaders are falling for this cheap and falsehood political tool and they continue to spread it among their gullible followers.

The President knows the importance of internal party democracy and will never impose a candidate this early, especially in a state as politically significant as Osun. Any claim suggesting otherwise is pure falsehood, a political fallacy, and an attempt to mislead the people.

Strong and capable leaders do not rely on lies to push their ambition. Those who resort to fake endorsements are only revealing their own lack of political credibility and public appeal. Instead of winning the hearts of the people through hard work, clear vision, and genuine leadership, they seek shortcuts through deception.

Osun State deserves better. The people are wise and can differentiate between true leadership and political fraud. Instead of wasting energy on false claims, these aspirants should focus on telling the people their plans, demonstrating competence, and building a solid support base through their own merits.

Politics should be about service, honesty, and accountability. Those who aspire to lead must lead by example, and that begins with integrity. Anyone who starts their campaign with lies is already proving unworthy of leadership. If such a person cannot be truthful now, how can they be trusted to govern with fairness and transparency?

Osun APC and the electorate must reject this politics of fake endorsements. Leaders within the party should also caution these aspirants against misleading the public, as such dishonesty can damage the party’s reputation and unity. The people of Osun deserve a credible leader who earns support through hard work and sincerity, not a pretender who hopes to ride on the back of manufactured endorsements.

The time for deception is over. Let the real contenders rise and let the people decide based on truth, competence, and character.
