Subsidy Removal: Presidency Needs Nigerians’ Understanding To Survive Oil Cabal
By Rotimi Makinde
The economy of Nigeria has taken the front burner in the hands of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu just as his administration made a seismic shift of putting an end to the infamous fuel subsidy. According to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) the country is spending over N400 billion monthly on petroleum subsidy.
I have always insisted that fuel subsidy is a scam and must go and that Nigeria cannot continue to borrow to fund its economy. Therefore, I can’t but join the presidency to seek for the understanding of Nigerians to support the government so that the oil cabals will not only be exposed but shamed and made to face the full wrath of the law in the overall interest of the ordinary who the government sought to protect.
I honestly plead with religious leaders both Christians and Muslims, trade unions, student union, market men and women and the entire stakeholders in both formal and informal sectors to join the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and see how we can improve the economy of this nation. The little pains and sacrifices of today is for our everlasting joy as a nation.
