Constant Verbal Attacks On Oyetola: Kolapo Alimi’s Ingratitude Posture To Providence
By Alhaji ABDULWAHAB RABIU
I have been observing with disdain how the immediate-past Commissioner for Local Government, Alhaji Kolapo Alimi, has been needlessly dissipating his energy on hurling series of unhealthy criticisms on Governor Gboyega Oyetola, his government and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ruling party in Osun State.
Alimi who constantly engages in frivolous diarrhoea of the mouth under a pack of some disgruntled APC members called ‘The Osun Progressives’ (TOP) to denigrate and distract the Oyetola administration is a perfect example of mortals who are not appreciative of God’s favour in his life.
What exactly is the problem of Alimi for throwing caution to the wind by not knowing the next thing in his life after manning the local government ministry for the two terms of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s administration?
It is known to all and sundry that Alimi made a stupendous money while serving as the Commissioner which is epitomized by the several houses he built both in Osogbo and his home town, Erin-Osun in Irepodun LCDA of the state.
It was learnt that it was his bungled aspiration to be made the Attorney-General of the State by Governor Oyetola that is the cause of his constant verbal attacks on his government. It is pertinent for Alimi to know that government appointments are not family businesses which confer right of heredity and perpetuation of service on the people; rather, it is turn-by-turn.
Alimi should be in the know that when he was the Commissioner for Local Government, some equally qualified people were also waiting in the wing.
I want to state here that it is uncharitable and callous for Alimi to take up arms against the government of Governor Oyetola for not making up the list of the subsisting Commissioners.
Just like all other principal members of the pressure group called TOP, it won’t be an overstatement to state and conclude that it’s not out of love for former Governor Rauf Aregbesola that you are waging war of attrition against the government of Oyetola but for your own personal and selfish reasons.
It is important for Alimi to cast back his mind how he started his life here in Ifon-Orolu as the owner and operator of ‘Uncle Kola Medicine Store’; how you later studied law which enhanced your appointment into the law chambers of the first Speaker in the Osun State House of Assembly, the Right Honourable Wale Afolabi, where your role was that of a glorified messenger.
I can also recollect how the struggle for the retrieval of Aregbesola’s then stolen mandate catapulted you into becoming the pupil lawyer that was leading witnesses into the courtroom in your cockroach-infected and weather-beating coat where you made your money to build your first three-bedroom flat in Erin-Osun.
You should be thanking Allah for His bountiful blessings over you as your initial aspiration was to become a scribe while you later made a Commissioners’ list through divine intervention.
It was through this your appointment as a Commissioner for Local Government that earned you other houses in Erin-Osun, your countryhome, Osogbo GRA, a magnificent law firm office building named ‘MONSHA ALLAHU HOUSE’ along station road, Osogbo, a mansion around Good Tidings, Dada Estate, Osogboo, a petrol filling station at Agunbelewo area of Osogbo among many other movable and immovable property.
It is also a known fact to all and sundry that your appointment as the Local Government Commissioner became an instant platform for you to change the status of some of your elder and younger siblings and relations by securing for them employments in the ministry under your watch.
While you should be grateful to Allah for securing for you the number of houses that are not in tandem with your salaries for the eight years that you served as a Commissioner, it is uncharitable for you to take up a gauntlet against the administration of Governor Oyetola simply because you were not appointed the state Attorney-General.
It is worrisome that a lawyer who is supposed to be knowledgeable and an acclaimed supposed member of the APC could flagrantly be engaging in anti-party activities under the guise of fighting for your mentor who has got to the pinnacle of his political attainment in Osun State.
I continue to wonder what your posture would be when the misunderstanding between Aregbesola and Oyetola is finally settled as there is no possibility of you being invited to such an anticipated session of peace parley between the two children of one political father.
What will happen to all your untoward comments to the person of Governor Oyetola, his government and the ruling party?
One does not need a soothsayer to observe, comment and conclude that your constant infectious outbursts are all aimed to pull down the government of Governor Oyetola, a development which makes you and your allies veritable suspects of working for the major opposition party in the State.
Alimi should stop henceforth throwing of political brickbats while feigning to still be a member of the APC when his conduct, actions, inactions and comments visibly portray him as a PDP member.
Half a word is enough for the wise.
