How Ogogo Changed My Life, Helped Me Get Canada Visa — Jaiye Kuti

Nollywood actress, Jaiyeola Kuti, has paid an emotional tribute to the late veteran actor and producer, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, recalling how he supported her career and helped her secure a Canadian visa.

Kuti, in a tribute shared on her Instagram page, described Ogogo as a kind-hearted and supportive colleague who was always interested in seeing people around him succeed.

Recounting how the late actor influenced her decision to travel to Canada, Kuti said Ogogo first encouraged her to consider visiting the country during a movie location several years ago.

She said she initially showed little interest in the idea, but Ogogo went further by contacting someone in Canada and helping her secure an invitation letter.

She wrote: “Truly, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan Ogogo was a prophet. I can remember that year when we all met at a location. Actor Yinka Quadri was with us, and they were busy discussing visiting Canada with Starboy.

“Ogogo looked at me and asked why I wasn’t interested in visiting Canada. I reluctantly replied that I wasn’t interested.

“He had to convince me and even spoke with Starboy in Canada to send me an invitation letter. Within 10 days, I submitted my application, it was approved, and I was given a 10-year visa stamped on my passport.”

The actress said she did not fully appreciate Ogogo’s gesture at the time until she began taking her movie productions to Canada and benefiting financially from the opportunity.

“I never appreciated it then until I started taking my movies to Canada and making money. I am planning to go next week again. Thank God I listened to Ogogo the other day,” she added.

Kuti also described the late actor as a pleasant person who was always willing to support others and promote their success.

“Ever since Ogogo passed away, I have been seeing his smiling face. It shows he is in a pleasant place because when he was alive, he was such a pleasant soul to be with.

“He was always ready to support and just wanted everyone around him to succeed,” she said.

The actress prayed for the repose of Ogogo’s soul and urged people to show kindness and support to one another while alive.

“May the soul of Sir T find rest, and let’s be kind to each other too because, at the end of the day, everyone will pass away,” she added.

Ogogo died on August 23, 2026, after a brief battle with stage four cancer.
