Tinubu Condoles Super Eagles Skipper Ndidi Over Father’s Death In Fatal Crash
President Bola Tinubu has sent heartfelt condolences to Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi over the tragic death of his father, Sunday Ndidi, who died in a ghastly road accident in Umunede, near Agbor, Delta State, on Tuesday.
Ndidi, the Nigerian international midfielder currently starring for Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas, shared a close bond with his father, whom he often credited as a mentor and guide in his stellar football career.
In a statement signed by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed profound sorrow, saying: “I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of Sunday Ndidi. I share in the grief of his family, friends and associates, particularly Wilfred Ndidi, who shared a strong bond with his father as a mentor and guide in his remarkable career as an exceptional footballer.”
The President highlighted Sunday Ndidi’s influence, noting: “There is no doubt that Sunday’s modest beginnings and honesty greatly impacted those who looked up to him for inspiration.”
Tinubu prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family, urging God Almighty to grant eternal repose to the soul of the departed.
