Osun Declares Tuesday Work-Free Day for PVC Collection Ahead of Governorship Election

Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a work-free day for all categories of public servants in Osun State to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The directive, which also covers local government employees and staff of state-owned tertiary institutions, was conveyed in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina.

According to the circular, the approval is intended to give public servants the opportunity to fulfil their civic responsibility by obtaining their PVCs for the forthcoming governorship election and future electoral exercises.

The government, however, exempted personnel on essential duties, including healthcare workers and security operatives, urging them to make internal arrangements that would allow eligible staff to collect their PVCs without disrupting critical public services.

Governor Adeleke called on all eligible voters, including those in the informal sector, to take advantage of the opportunity and obtain their voter cards before the close of the collection exercise.

He stressed the importance of broad participation in the electoral process, describing the August governorship election as critical to the future of Osun State.

“I encourage all registered voters to visit the designated collection centres without delay. Your vote is your power. Your voter card is your licence to the ballot paper and, by extension, to the ballot box,” the governor said.
