The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has felicitated with the people of the state on the 35th anniversary of its creation.

Oyebamiji said there was every reason for the people of Osun to celebrate the anniversary, despite the socio-economic and political challenges confronting the state.

The former Commissioner, however, called for calm, unity and peaceful coexistence among the people, stressing the need for collective efforts to move the state forward.

He made the call in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the creation of Osun State.

Oyebamiji urged the people to use the anniversary as an opportunity for sober reflection on the vision and aspirations of the founding fathers who worked tirelessly for the creation of the state.

He said, “This is a period of sober reflection on the need to realise the dreams and aspirations of our founding fathers, through whose selfless efforts the creation of Osun was made possible.

“As we celebrate with moderation, I want to sincerely appeal to our people to dedicate prayers for the continued growth, progress and development of our dear state.”

The APC chieftain also urged residents to remain peaceful and united, particularly as the leadership of the party continues with its technical and physical review and assessment of the August 15 governorship election.

He called on the people to continue to demonstrate understanding and allow the appropriate processes to take their course, while maintaining peace across the state.

Oyebamiji further paid tribute to the founding fathers of Osun State, including those who are still alive and those who have passed on, for their contributions to the creation and development of the state.

“I heartily rejoice and celebrate with our people, particularly our fathers, both transitioned and alive, who fought for the creation of our dear state,” he said.

He prayed for the continued progress, prosperity and development of Osun State, urging all stakeholders to work together towards building a better future for the state.
