OSMC President, Olawuyi warns against political violence in Osun ahead of election

Muslims in Osun State have been warned against political violence, before, during and after the August 15 governorship election.

The President of Osun State Muslim Community, Alhaji Mustafa Olawuyi gave the warning during an interactive session with the Governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rt Hon Najeemdeen Folasayo Salaam at OSMC Secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital.

He condemned the recent reported incidents of political violence in many parts of the state and advised Muslims to stay safe and shun violence.

Olawuyi also advised politicians in the state to fear Allah and focus their campaign messages on issues rather than hate speech.

Also, the Chairman of Osun State Shari’a Panel who is also the Chief Imam of Telemu, Sheikh Musa Raji and a prominent imam, Sheikh Hasim Olapade appealed to politicians, particularly the Governorship candidates to ensure that they fulfill their campaign promises after election.

The OSMC President lauded the ADC candidate for his antecedent when he served as Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly and charged him to sustain his good deeds.

While speaking, Salaam assured the people of his state that he would move the state to higher heights if elected as next Governor of the state in the August 15 election.

The ADC candidate used the occasion to highlight his agenda for the state which include economic, educational, agricultural and infrastructural development and as well as welfare of the civil servants.

He promised to introduce initiatives that would make life better for the people of the state, especially the vulnerable such as persons with disabilities, the aged the downtrodden.
