FCT PDP Councillors-Elect Dedicate Victory To Gbenga Hashim
In a dramatic political twist, councillors-elect of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory have openly rejected any perceived influence of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, instead crediting their electoral success to Gbenga Hashim.
The councillors-elect, led by Vice Chairman-Elect Hon. Halidu Chasha, stormed the camp of Gbenga Hashim on a solidarity visit widely interpreted as a bold political statement and a direct rebuttal of claims linking Nyesom Wike to their emergence.
Their message was unmistakable, the victory belongs to Gbenga Hashim, not Wike.
During the meeting, Gbenga Hashim described the visit as “warm and encouraging,” praising the councillors for their unity and grassroots strength, while urging them to deliver real impact to their communities.
But beyond the courtesy, the political implications are far reaching.
Observers say the development shatters the narrative that Nyesom Wike holds decisive control over PDP structures in the FCT.
Instead, it positions Gbenga Hashim as an emerging power center with growing influence across the North Central.
By publicly dedicating their victory to him, the councillors have effectively redrawn the PDP power map, sending a clear signal ahead of future political contests.
The move also lays to rest earlier speculations that attempted to credit Nyesom Wike with their candidacy, an assertion now politically weakened by this open declaration of allegiance.
“To God be the glory,” Gbenga Hashim said, signaling confidence in what many now see as a growing political movement.
