By Christianah Oladosu, Osogbo
Six people, including a pregnant woman and five final-year nursing students, yesterday, died in an auto crash along the Kwara axis of the Ilorin-Ogbomoso road.
The incident occurred in the Ote area of Kwara State. Several of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while others succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
It was gathered that the deceased students were 500-level undergraduates enrolled in an Open and Distance Learning Bachelor of Nursing Science programme at a higher institution in Oyo State.
They were reportedly travelling to sit for their second semester examinations when the crash occurred.
Confirming the incident, Kwara State Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mrs. Rosemary Alo, said the accident took place at the Kwara end of the Ilorin-Ogbomoso road, specifically in the Ote area.
“Our personnel are working in collaboration with the Kwara State Command to restore normal traffic flow on the highway,” she said.
