Moro Indigenes Call For Gov Adeleke, Ooni's urgent Intervention To Avert looming Crisis Over Olumoro Obaship Tussle

The Olumoro Chiefs-in-Council has called on the Osun State Government and traditional authorities to urgently intervene in the crisis over the Olumoro stool, accusing one of the contestants of unlawfully parading himself as the monarch despite an ongoing court case.

Addressing a press conference in Moro on Sunday, Oosa of Moro Land, High Chief Festus Abidemi Abidoye expressed deep concern over what he described as a dangerous development which can cause unrest in the community if not swiftly addressed by government and security agencies.

He disclosed that the Olumoro stool’s matter is currently before the court, with the case fixed for hearing in early February 2026, stressing that no individual has the right to assume the title while the matter remains before the court.

The high chief flanked by other traditional chiefs, market men and women, youths leader and other concerned Indigenes of the town, alleged that Prince Gideon Adebayo Oyeyemi, one of the contestants, had been parading himself as the Olumoro.

According to him,”It is pertinent to note that the matter of the Olumoro stool is currently before a competent Court of law. The case is ongoing, with the next hearing scheduled for early February 2026.

“As a people known for wisdom and respect for order, we must recognize that once a matter is sub judice (before the Court), it is no longer subject to personal interpretation or unilateral action.

“Unfortunately, it has come to the attention of the Olumoro Chiefs-in-Council and concerned stakeholders that one of the contestants to the stool, Prince Gideon Adebayo Oyeyemi, is allegedly parading himself as the Olumoro while the case remains unresolved.

“This development is deeply concerning. Let me emphasize: no individual has the legal or traditional authority to assume the title of Olumoro while the matter is pending before the Judiciary.

“Such actions send a dangerous signal to the public and risk provoking avoidable tension, particularly among our passionate youth.

Abidoye appeal to Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, to intervene in the matter.

According to him, repeated efforts by the Olumoro Chiefs-in-Council to secure an audience with the governor had so far proved unsuccessful.

“The entire Moro Community members formally call upon the Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Senator Jackson Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, despite our repeated and concerted efforts to secure an audience with the Governor, we have yet to receive a positive response.

“We similarly appeal to the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs and His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II. We are concerned that administrative bottlenecks have prevented the concerns of the Olumoro Chiefs-in-Council from being properly presented to your high offices.

“We humbly seek your urgent intervention and guidance to ensure that due process is respected and that peace is maintained in Moro Land.

He also appealed to security agencies to strengthen their presence in the community and remain alert to prevent any breakdown of law and order, while urging residents to stay calm and law-abiding.

“To the Moro Progressive Union, artisans, traders, and residents: I urge you to remain calm and go about your lawful businesses without fear. The peace of Moro Land is our shared responsibility.

“I respectfully call on law enforcement agencies to intensify their efforts in maintaining peace and order. We appreciate your professionalism thus far and solicit your continued vigilance to prevent any act capable of disrupting the public peace.
