Osun: Man Sentenced To Two Years Imprisonment For Stealing Goods Worth N1.8m

An Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State Capital has convicted and sentenced one Ogunniran Olasunkanmi to two years imprisonment for stealing valuables worth a total sum of N1.797 million.
Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Olatunji Muibat, convicted Olasunkanmi on self admittance
to the charges slammed against him.
During the arraignment, Police Prosecutor Fatoba Temitope informed the court that the convict committed the crime on December 22, 2025.
Temitope explained that the items stolen included a 53-inch LG smart television (later reported as 43-inch), two laptop computers, an adire/campala cloth, four watches, a case of cornflakes, and other items valued at N1.797 million.
The prosecution stated that the offence contravenes and is punishable under Sections 412, 390(9), and 411 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2023.
In her judgment, Chief Magistrate Muibat sentenced Olasunkanmi to two years imprisonment with an option of a N200,000 fine on the first and second charges.
However, she sentenced him to a mandatory two-year jail term without the option of a fine on the third count.
