2027: Osun NDP Reps Candidate Unveils Agenda On Jobs, Agriculture, Women, Healthcare In Oriade/Obokun

A candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP) for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Hon. Ogundare Kayode has outlined youth employment, women empowerment, agricultural development, improved healthcare and effective representation as key areas of focus if elected into the House of Representatives.

The candidate, while presenting his vision for the constituency, said his ambition was driven by the need to provide purposeful representation and create opportunities capable of improving the living conditions of residents across Oriade and Obokun Local Government Areas.

He identified unemployment among young people as one of the major challenges confronting the constituency, promising to pursue initiatives that would promote skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and access to employment opportunities.

According to him, “Our youths must not only be seen as leaders of tomorrow; they must be given opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the development of our communities today. I will prioritise programmes that can equip them with relevant skills and connect them to opportunities.”

The NDP candidate also pledged to promote programmes targeted at women, particularly in the areas of entrepreneurship, vocational training, access to finance and small-scale businesses, saying women remained important contributors to the economic development of families and communities.

On agriculture, Kayode said the constituency had significant potential in farming and agribusiness, promising to advocate policies and interventions that would support farmers with improved inputs, modern techniques, processing facilities and better access to markets.

He also listed healthcare as another area requiring legislative attention, saying he would work towards attracting interventions that could strengthen primary healthcare facilities, improve access to essential medical services and support vulnerable residents.

The candidate promised to make effective representation a central component of his legislative agenda, saying constituents should be able to communicate their concerns to their representative and receive regular feedback on issues affecting them.

He said, “Representation is not about occupying an office or attending legislative sessions alone. It is about bringing the voice of the people to the National Assembly, pursuing issues that affect them and ensuring that the constituency benefits from meaningful interventions.”

He further pledged to engage communities, traditional institutions, youth groups, women organisations, farmers and other stakeholders regularly, saying his approach to representation would be based on consultation, accountability and responsiveness.

The NDP candidate called on residents of Oriade/Obokun to carefully examine the programmes, experience and commitments of candidates ahead of the 2027 election, stressing that the constituency deserved representation focused on development, inclusion and the welfare of its people.
