Gunmen Kill Driver, Abduct Passengers On Ore–Benin Expressway
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have attacked a commercial bus belonging to GUO Transport along the Ore–Benin Expressway, killing the driver and abducting several passengers.
The assailants were said to have ambushed the vehicle heading eastward, opening fire on the driver, who died on the spot before the attackers reportedly took the passengers away.
The incident occurred along a section of the highway notorious for criminal activities, particularly kidnappings and armed attacks, linking the South-West to the South-South region.
Sources indicated that the victims were forced into nearby forests, a method frequently adopted by kidnapping syndicates operating along the route.
Although security agencies are yet to issue an official statement as of the time of filing this report, however, a video circulating online suggested that multiple passengers were taken by the attackers.
In recent times, the Ore–Benin Expressway has recorded repeated incidents of abductions, with many victims reportedly regaining freedom only after the payment of ransom.
