The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Osun State Command, has contained a fire outbreak at Hepibuhalah Cold Room, Eja-Tutu Bus Stop, along the Gbongan-Ibadan Expressway, Owode-Ede, saving property estimated at N200 million.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, September 19, 2026, with the Command receiving a distress call at about 3:10 a.m. from one Engineer Femi Adedapo, who alerted firefighters to the outbreak.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSF Ojo Omoyemi Olamide, the fire service immediately mobilised its FFS 141 appliance, driven by IF Adejumo and led by DSF Ogunremi.
The firefighting team arrived at the scene at about 3:40 a.m. and discovered that the fire was confined to the rooftop of the upper floor of a two-storey commercial shopping complex.
The affected section was estimated to cover an area of approximately 50 feet by 100 feet.
The Command said preliminary investigation indicated that an electrical surge was suspected to have triggered the fire.
It added that the blaze was successfully brought under control using one medium jet of water from the FFS 141 appliance, with additional support from the Osun State Fire Service appliance, OS 653-A01, from the Abere Fire Station.
No casualty was recorded in the incident, while the estimated value of property lost to the fire was put at about N10 million.
However, the Command said the prompt response of the firefighters and effective firefighting operations helped to save property estimated at N200 million.
The Federal Fire Service urged members of the public to observe necessary fire safety measures and report fire emergencies promptly to enable firefighters to respond quickly and prevent extensive damage.
