Three Dead In Ekiti After Convocation Party Clash
Tragedy struck Ikere-Ekiti as at least three persons were feared dead during a post-convocation party held in the town.
The incident occurred at a popular hotel where students and recent graduates had gathered to celebrate the second convocation of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education Science and Technology.
It was gathered that the celebration turned violent following a disagreement among some attendees, which reportedly escalated into a clash.
Eyewitnesses said panic broke out after some individuals allegedly introduced dangerous objects into the fracas, forcing partygoers to flee for safety.
Subsequently, the chaos led to a stampede within the premises, with several persons reportedly falling in the rush to escape.
“In the confusion, three persons lost their lives. Two were trampled during the stampede, while another was attacked in the violence,” a source said.
Another source disclosed that one of the victims was a fresh graduate who had attended the convocation earlier in the day, while two of the deceased were siblings.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ekiti State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement, while efforts to ascertain arrests and further details were ongoing.
