The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Oriade Chapter, and the Nigerian Women for Agricultural Progress and Development Initiative (NWAPDI) have endorsed Barr. Pelumi Olajengbesi, candidate of the Accord Party for the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency seat.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo, Spokesperson
Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organization (POCO), and made available to journalists in Osogbo, on Saturday.

According to the statement, Olajengbesi was endorsed at a joint stakeholders meeting held in Ijebu-Jesa, where leaders of both associations affirmed their confidence in the candidacy of the young lawyer.

High Chief Ojo Sunday Fasosin, Governor of AFAN, Oriade Chapter, and Saba of Egboroland, described Olajengbesi as a credible, competent people-focused leader whose agenda aligns with the aspirations of farmers and rural women.

According to High Chief Fasosin, the endorsement was informed by Olajengbesi’s clear blueprint for agricultural transformation, food security, access to credit for smallholder farmers, and empowerment of women in agribusiness across Obokun and Oriade.

He disclosed that members of the association have resolved to work and vote for Olajengbesi because he understands the challenges of farmers, from mechanization to market access, and his commitment to women inclusion in agriculture is unmatched.

Leaders of NWAPDI, Mrs. Olasupo Jumoke (Obokun Chapter) and Mrs. Deborah Ojo (Oriade Chapter) also described the candidacy of Olajengbesi as a clear path to food security and agricultural revolution in the constituency.

Fatinikun Micheal, a farmer and resident of Ijebu-Jesa, described Olajengbesi as an intelligent leader with the capacity to solve agricultural problems with modern tools, adding that he is ready to work with the campaign council on agricultural policy for better output.

In his response, Olajengbesi expressed gratitude to the leaders and members of AFAN and NWAPDI for the confidence reposed in him, assuring that agriculture will be the cornerstone of his legislative agenda.

He described farmers as the backbone of the economy of Obokun/Oriade and promised to champion legislation and interventions on farm inputs, extension services, storage facilities, and special agricultural grants for women and youths.

“We must declare a state of emergency on poverty and partner with farmers for innovative ideas that will make agriculture more attractive for youths and more productive for society,” Olajengbesi said.

“Our constituency is agrarian. We will listen to AFAN and our mothers in NWAPDI for better productivity. I thank you for endorsing me. I will not disappoint you,” he added.
