National Ordinance Day:NOA Urges Osun Residents To Respect National Symbols, Laws

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Osun State Directorate, has called on Nigerians to demonstrate patriotism by respecting national symbols, obeying lawful ordinances and upholding the rule of law.

The State Director of the agency, Mr. Adebiyi Adefarasin Stephen, made the call in a statement issued on Wednesday, by the agency Public Relations Officer, Bunmi Olaseinde, to commemorate the 2026 National Ordinance Day.

Adefarasin said the commemoration provided an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the values of discipline, integrity, patriotism, national unity and respect for constituted authority.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the NOA to promoting positive attitudinal change and responsible citizenship in line with the National Values Charter.

According to him, citizens must not only obey laws and regulations but also take responsibility for protecting the symbols that represent the sovereignty and identity of Nigeria.

He specifically urged Nigerians to respect and properly handle the National Flag, Coat of Arms, National Anthem, National Pledge, Nigerian currency, passport and other national symbols.

Adefarasin warned that the abuse, defacement or improper handling of the Naira, passport, flag and other national symbols was unpatriotic and could attract sanctions under relevant laws.

He said, “The National Ordinance Day provides an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the values of discipline, patriotism, integrity, national unity and respect for constituted authority.”

The NOA director also urged citizens to promote peace, unity and collective responsibility, stressing that these values were essential to national development.

He disclosed that the Osun Directorate would intensify sensitisation programmes across the 30 local government areas through community engagements, school outreaches, market sensitisation and media advocacy.

Adefarasin called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth and women groups, civil society organisations and the media to partner with the agency in promoting responsible citizenship and respect for the rule of law.
