Osun Security Workers Groan Over Unpaid Salaries
Staff of the Omoluabi Security Services have appealed to the Osun State Government over unpaid two months’ salaries.
Findings by OSUN DEFENDER revealed that the staff of the security outfit have not been paid since February 2026.
The situation, according to a cross-section of them who spoke with OSUN DEFENDER under the condition of anonymity, is becoming unbearable, as many of them cannot afford to feed themselves and their respective families. Also, they are resorting to loans to take transportation to their places of duty.
They are being paid N25,000 as their monthly take-home pay by the state government.
A staff member of the security outfit, who did not want his name in print, spoke to OSUN DEFENDER yesterday and expressed disappointment about the situation.
“The situation is becoming unbearable for us. What we are earning is not what the government should delay for two months. We are not even sure if the April salary will be paid. That will make it the third month. The situation is excruciating and we can no longer endure it. I have been trekking to work since this issue began while I borrow from people to feed myself and family. We appeal to Governor Adeleke to please look into the issue as a matter of urgency.
“We quite understand the situation of the state. We quiet know that the seizure of the local government funda by the federal government is affecting a lot of sectors in the state. However, we appealed to our amiable Governor to consider our plight,” the staff stated.
Another operative of the Omoluabi Security Service also appealed to the authorities to treat the matter with urgency, saying she has run into debt as the situation persists.
The staff also begged the state government to review the N25,000 remuneration in view of the current economic realities.
The source said, “I want to plead with the authority to please attend to our matter. It is almost three months since we have not received salaries. We also urged the government at the same time to review the N25,000 to meet the current economic reality.
“Imagine a married woman trekking to work. The money is not even enough to cater for our needs. We believe the governor has a listening ear.”
However, a top-ranking staff of the security service attributed the delay in the salary payment to the change of government.
He said the delay has been recurring since the inception of Adeleke’s administration.
“Under former governor Rauf Aregbesola and Gboyega Oyetola, we are given priority with other civil servants. But the present administration has combined our salaries with other securities in the state. We are now under Governor Monitoring Team (GMT).
“Other security agencies are not feeling this situation because they are Federal workers.”
In addition, they pleaded with the government to also pay their salaries simultaneously with those of the civil servants in the state.
