Oyebamiji Expresses Confidence in APC Victory At Osun Governorship Poll
-Dismisses Relying On ‘Federal Might’
– Rejoices With Engr. Akinwumi On 89 Birthday Anniversary
Allhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, has expressed confidence in his chances of emerging victorious, stating that he and members of the party have worked diligently to secure the mandate of the people.
Oyebamiji made this known while fielding questions from journalists at a special prayer organised to celebrate the 89th birthday of the Chairman of Igbimo-Agba Osun, the apex body of the APC in the state, Engr. Sola Akinwumi.
The event was held at Akinwumi’s country home in Ilobu.
The APC governorship candidate dismissed insinuations allegedly peddled by members of the Accord Party, insisting that the people of Osun would vote out Governor Ademola Adeleke.
He clarified that the APC was not relying on federal might, as speculated, but on merit and the conviction of the electorate.
“We have tried our best. We are confident that we are going to win this election. We have worked for it, and the people of Osun are yearning for a change, a change for a new Osun,” Oyebamiji said.
“We are working very hard, and they are expecting us. I can tell you that we are not depending on anybody. Contrary to the speculation being peddled, there is no federal might. We have canvassed extensively, and I can say categorically that the people of Osun are expecting us.”
He congratulated Engr. Akinwumi on his 89th birthday, describing him as an astute politician and a respected leader whose contributions to the party remain invaluable.
In his remarks, Engr. Akinwumi expressed gratitude to God for preserving his life and appreciated the APC flagbearer, members of Igbimo-Agba Osun, and party loyalists who attended the celebration. He also acknowledged the presence of the son of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
The APC chieftain urged residents of Osun State to vote massively for Oyebamiji in the forthcoming election.
“I want to appeal to the people of Osun to go out on election day and vote for Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, our candidate. There should be no crisis,” he said.
“We have the people in Osun. If it is about the people, 90 percent of them are with us, and they will vote for our candidate. Some people may not belong to our party, but on election day, they will come out and vote for AMBO.”
Also speaking, the Secretary of Igbimo-Agba Osun, Hon. Omolaoye Akintola, congratulated the celebrant on attaining another year, describing him as a seasoned political leader with remarkable sagacity.
Akintola urged the electorate to support Oyebamiji at the polls, describing the APC governorship candidate as experienced, versatile, and well-grounded in governance.
“He has studied the pitfalls of previous and current administrations and is well-positioned to address grey areas to improve governance in Osun State,” he said.
