Tinubu Vows To Defeat Terrorism, Banditry At NEC Conference
President Bola Tinubu on Monday declared that Nigeria will overcome terrorism and banditry, describing the security challenges as unacceptable and contrary to the country’s values.
The president spoke while declaring open the second National Economic Council (NEC) Conference at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, where he assured Nigerians of his administration’s determination to strengthen security forces and restore peace in affected communities.
Tinubu said insecurity has remained a major concern for his government, stressing that defeating terrorism and banditry is critical to national stability and economic progress.
“I assure you we will win with determination and resilience. We will overcome this unacceptable terrorism and banditry. It is not part of our culture; it is foreign to us,” the President said.
He described insecurity as a major economic setback and called for urgent, collective action to address it.
The president commended several state governors, particularly those of Borno, Katsina and Kaduna states, for their efforts in tackling security challenges and safeguarding lives and property.
Welcoming governors, ministers, members of the National Assembly, development partners and private sector leaders to the two-day conference, Tinubu said the gathering reflected a shared commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable national development.
The conference, themed “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable National Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan 2026–2030,” brought together key stakeholders to align national and subnational economic priorities.
