Google and UpSkill Universe, a leading AI and business skills training partner in Sub-Saharan Africa, have announced a major update to the Google Hustle Academy program.
For the first time, the free program is open to everyone, not just business owners.
The new curriculum focuses on teaching practical AI skills to help individuals and entrepreneurs advance their careers.
Small businesses drive Africa’s economy, creating over 80% of jobs. To support them, Hustle Academy started in 2022, offering training on business strategy, digital skills, AI, and leadership. Since then, over 18,000 SMEs have participated, with many reporting increased revenue and more jobs.
The 2026 edition is designed for a wider audience, including employees, students, and jobseekers.
The program now offers short 60-minute webinars and more intensive bootcamps, with a focus on using AI immediately in areas like digital commerce, marketing, and growth strategy.
Gori Yahaya, Founder & CEO of UpSkill Universe, said: “The 2026 Hustle Academy is designed to close the AI skills gap with short, hands-on training that is immediately useful.
AI is changing how businesses succeed and how careers grow across Africa. Our partnership with Google, now in its fifth year, combines global AI leadership with our regional expertise.
The next wave of AI leaders will come from this continent, and we are preparing them.”
