20 Abducted NYSC Prospective Corps Members Regain Freedom in Imo

The Yoruba Progressives Forum (YPF), a Yoruba sociocultural organisation, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, security agencies and the Imo State Government for their roles in the successful rescue of the 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted in Imo State.

The group described the rescue of the prospective corps members and another person abducted alongside as a significant development that would bring relief to their families and loved ones.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Alhaji AbdulLateef Olalekan, popularly known as Asiri Ede, YPF commended the security agencies for their sustained efforts, coordination and commitment towards securing the safe release of the victims.

According to the group, the development demonstrates the importance of effective collaboration among security agencies and relevant levels of government in tackling kidnapping and other forms of criminality across the country.

“We, members of Yoruba Progressives Forum commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the security agencies and the Imo State Government for the successful rescue of the abducted prospective corps members.

“We appreciate the dedication and courage of the security personnel involved in the operation and the efforts made to ensure that the victims returned safely to their families,” the statement said.

YPF also expressed solidarity with the families of the abducted prospective corps members, noting that their ordeal must have been emotionally distressing.

The group urged the authorities to sustain the momentum by intensifying intelligence gathering, surveillance and coordinated operations aimed at preventing similar incidents and ensuring that those responsible for kidnapping and other criminal activities are brought to justice.

It further assured Nigerians that the Federal Government was taking the security challenge seriously, saying that the administration of President Tinubu had demonstrated its determination to confront insecurity.

“President Tinubu is not taking the issue of security with levity. We believe that with sustained commitment, improved intelligence and stronger cooperation among the security agencies, the activities of bandits, kidnappers and other criminal groups can be effectively curtailed,” YPF said.

The organisation also called on Nigerians to continue supporting the administration’s efforts to reform the country, stressing that national development and security require collective responsibility from government and citizens.

YPF urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and provide useful information that could assist authorities in preventing crimes and protecting lives and property.

The group congratulated the rescued prospective corps members and their families, while expressing hope that the victims would receive the necessary medical and psychological support to recover from the experience.
