Panic As Residents Discover Corpse Of Young Woman In Ekiti
Panic gripped residents of the Omisanjana area in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, on Tuesday after the corpse of a young woman was discovered beside a stream.
According to locals, the body was found a few hours ago by a farmer on his way to his farmland, who immediately raised an alarm, drawing neighbours to the scene.
Some residents told Western Post that the corpse may have been carried to the spot by floodwaters following heavy rainfall in the Falegan area of the city earlier in the day.
The sight of the body near the stream sparked fear and concern, with several residents gathering at the location before security operatives arrived.
Efforts to officially identify the deceased are ongoing. Officials from the Ekiti State Police Command and the State Fire Service have visited the scene to evacuate the body.
The incident has prompted residents to call for improved drainage and flood control measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
