Armed men have attacked the Byazhin-Across community Kubwa, a satellite town in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
It was gathered that the armed men stormed the Paze area of Byazhin-Across on Monday night, killing a vigilante officer identified as Sylvester and abducting several residents.
The incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m when the attackers stormed the area, firing gunshots which caused panic among residents before carrying out the abductions.
During the attack, the vigilante was reportedly shot after he stepped out of a compound where he had been sitting with other residents when the gunmen arrived.
Several persons were taken away during the incident.
Among those kidnapped were four children of a pastor, the wife of a vigilante and her sister, while a month old baby was left behind.
Another woman and a security personnel were also among those abducted during the attack.
Two days after the incident, suspected kidnappers reportedly struck again in the same Byazhin-Across area around Orange Farm, where several houses were entered and more residents were abducted.
The recent attacks have heightened fear among residents of the community, which had previously been considered peaceful, as many now express concern over the growing cases of kidnappings within parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
