Candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections in Kwara State on Monday received royal blessings from the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for success at the polls.

The Emir offered his prayers while receiving hundreds of APC leaders, members and supporters at his palace in Ilorin. He prayed for electoral victory for the party’s candidates, including Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

“Starting from Governor AbdulRazaq to other candidates of the party, God will grant you all electoral success. May you not be put to shame,” the Emir prayed.

Earlier, the Kwara State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, said the delegation comprised top party chieftains and all APC candidates, including the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and the party’s governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi, as well as the senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates.

In his address, Fagbemi commended Governor AbdulRazaq for what he described as his transformative programmes and prayed for his continued success in office.

He told the Emir that the party’s candidates emerged through primaries conducted by the APC National Headquarters in accordance with the party’s guidelines.

The party chairman also formally presented the candidates to the Emir and sought his prayers and support ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the royal blessings would strengthen the party’s campaign.

Speaking after the visit, Danladi described democracy as an aggregation of interests and said efforts were underway to reconcile aggrieved members of the party.

He expressed confidence that ongoing reconciliation would unite APC members behind Governor AbdulRazaq and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the elections.

He said the party’s reconciliation committee was already engaging stakeholders to foster unity, adding that peace within the APC would enhance its chances at the polls.

Danladi also expressed optimism that the party would retain its dominance in the state, citing the large turnout of supporters during recent rallies as a sign of continued public support.
