The Anyiam-Osigwe family has commemorated the 28th anniversary of the passing of Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe, celebrating his enduring legacy of integrity, wisdom and commitment to human development.
In a tribute released to mark the anniversary, the family reflected on the lasting influence of their patriarch, noting that his values and teachings continue to shape their lives decades after his death.
“Twenty-eight years is a long time by the calendar, yet when someone’s presence is so deeply woven into the fabric of a family, time truly collapses into a single day,” the family stated.
The family described Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe as a man whose character and principles remain a source of pride, adding that his influence continues to guide their decisions and relationships.
According to the tribute, his impact extended beyond his immediate family to the wider society through his philosophical contributions and ideas on human dignity, social development and global harmony.
The family noted that his intellectual contributions continue to receive recognition in academic institutions within and outside Nigeria, reflecting the relevance of his ideas to contemporary society.
It also highlighted his recognition as a Sage Philosopher and the posthumous Odera Oruka Award, describing the honours as evidence of his enduring intellectual and moral influence.
The family further emphasised that his legacy lives on through the work of the foundation established in his name, as well as its continued commitment to integrity and the values he upheld during his lifetime.
“Personality survives death, as you continue to live in the hearts of those who love you and those you lived for,” the family said in the tribute.
It prayed that his memory would continue to provide comfort, strength and inspiration to family members and others whose lives he touched.
The tribute concluded with a prayer for his continued rest in the bosom of the Lord, reaffirming the family’s belief that his legacy remains alive through the principles he instilled and the people he inspired.
