Three Oyo Government Appointees Resign, One Cites Unconducive Work Environment
Three political appointees in the administration of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, have resigned from their respective positions, with one of them citing an unconducive working environment as the reason for his decision.
The officials who resigned are Sunday Olugbenga Falana, a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC); Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning; and Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget and Economic Planning.
The three officials reportedly submitted their resignation letters on November 2, 2026, with their decisions taking immediate effect.
Falana communicated his decision through the Chief of Staff to the governor, expressing appreciation to Makinde for the opportunity to serve. He, however, did not disclose the reason for his resignation.
Similarly, Ojo thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in him since his appointment in June 2026 but did not state the circumstances surrounding his departure.
Oyeleke, on the other hand, attributed his resignation to what he described as an unconducive working environment, which he said had made it difficult for him to fulfil the aspirations of his constituents.
The simultaneous resignations come amid growing political activities and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, no further details were provided on whether the departures were connected or whether the officials had other political or professional plans.
The development is expected to draw attention to the political and administrative dynamics within the Makinde-led government as preparations for the next electoral cycle gather momentum.
