Oyo ADC Threatens Legal Action Against Makinde's Ex-Chief of Staff, Bisi Ilaka Over 'Fake' Appointment

The Oyo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has threatened to institute legal action against a former Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, Chief Bisi Ilaka, over his alleged appointment to the Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration (MRMR) Committee.

In a press statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Barrister Bimpe Adelowo, the Oyo ADC described Ilaka as an “impostor” and warned him and his “co-political alien sponsors” to steer clear of the party.

The statement read: “This impostor and his co-political alien sponsors are warned to steer clear of Oyo State ADC and to toe the path of honour. Oyo State ADC will not hesitate to institute legal action against Bisi Ilaka and his collaborators.”

The party lamented that Ilaka, who has been contesting elections for years without success, is pursuing an “undemocratic path” in his ambition.

The statement added: “It is so unfortunate that someone who has been serially contesting elections for years without any success could be toeing an undemocratic path in pursuing his inordinate ambition without learning basic lessons.”

The ADC apologized for the confusion caused by “these political aliens whose stock in trade is creating crisis”, describing their approach to politics as “uncivilized”.

The party clarified that Ilaka is not known to the Oyo ADC and was not sponsored or nominated by the state chapter for any committee.

“By the established policy, practice, and procedure of the party, any appointment by the National Headquarters must necessarily be sponsored through the State Chapter and transmitted by the State Chairman, and such nominee must be known to the State chapter of the party” the statement reads.

The party named Mr. Ayo Akinyemi as the Chairman and Professor Folake Tafita as the Secretary of the MRMR Committee, saying their nominations were fully sponsored and submitted by the State Chapter.

The statement reads further: “The nominations of ADC Oyo State for the MRMR Committee are Mr. Ayo Akinyemi as Chairman and Professor Folake Tafita as Secretary. Their nominations were fully sponsored and submitted by the State Chapter and they were duly inaugurated in Abuja.

‘In line with the party’s procedure and practice, should any nomination been rejected, there would be an official communication to the State Chapter through the State Chairman. But no such communication was received.

“For the avoidance of doubt, ADC Oyo State as it is presently constituted, has the subsisting Executive Committee structures across all 33 Local Government Areas and 351 Wards of Oyo State.

“The purported appointment of Chief Bisi Ilaka and his cohort as MRMR Chairman and Secretary is inconsistent with the established procedure and practice of the party.

“Accordingly, members of the public and party faithful are advised to disregard the said publication, as it does not reflect the policy, procedural and practice of ADC.

“We encourage our esteemed members not to dissipate energy over the fate of the political aliens, but should focus more on the ongoing online membership registration which is now open for two weeks and Visit https://adcregistration.ng to register.

“ADC Oyo State remains focused, united, and committed to attracting the credible and resourceful individuals who will continue adding value to the party.

“It is so unfortunate that someone who has been serially contesting elections for years without any success, could be toeing an undemocratic path in pursuing his inordinate ambition without learning basic lessons”.
