A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Hon Rotimi Makinde, has condemned the attacked on the campaign office of a governorship aspirant in the forthcoming Gubernatorial election, Senator Iyiola Omisore by suspected political thugs.

Makinde, in a statement he signed and made available to journalists in Osogbo, yesterday, noted that such act of violence has no place in democratic process, calling for thorough investigation, saying the perpetrators should be made to face the music.

The former Member, House of Representatives (7th Assembly, Ife Federal Constituency) also expressed disappointment at the recent open letter which according to him making baseless allegations against former Governor of Osun and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, saying it was a calculated attempt to malign his hard-earned reputation.

He said: “As a concerned citizen and stakeholder in Osun State, I strongly condemn the recent attack on the campaign office of my esteemed brother, Engineer Iyiola Omisore. Such acts of violence have no place in our democratic process and should be thoroughly investigated.

“I also want to express my disappointment at the recent open letter making baseless allegations against Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s leadership and character. The letter’s claims are unfounded, malicious, and seem to be a calculated attempt to malign his hard-earned reputation. I urge all stakeholders to disregard such malicious propaganda and focus on promoting peace and unity in the party.

“Former Governor Oyetola has consistently stated that he is not contesting the upcoming primary election and has no intention of imposing anyone on the party. I appeal to all aspirants to respect the party’s process and allow the best candidate to emerge.

He, therefore, urged the APC members to prioritise peace, unity and the success of the party in the forthcoming governorship election.

“Let’s prioritize peace, unity, and the success of our great party. We should focus on promoting issue-based campaigns and avoiding actions that could undermine our party’s chances in 2026.

“To Engineer Omisore and all aspirants, I urge you to continue to promote peace and unity. Let’s work together to ensure a smooth and credible primary election”
