Dino Melaye Officially Joins ADC
Former Kogi West senator and ex-governorship candidate, Dino Melaye, has officially pitched his tent with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), hours after dramatically dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Melaye was on Wednesday handed his ADC membership card by the party’s state chapter, confirming what insiders say has been a long time coming.
“He’s not new here,” a senior ADC official said. “Dino has been working underground with us for months. This was just the formal unveiling.”
The defection ends months of back-and-forth over Melaye’s political future following his visible absence from PDP activities and his open dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership.
Earlier in the day, he sent in his resignation letter to the PDP chairman of his ward in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu LGA, accusing the party of failing to show credible leadership or offer hope to Nigerians in crisis.
In true Dino fashion, he accompanied the switch with a cryptic video calling on “witches and wizards”.
The move further aligns him with his longtime political associate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who also dumped the PDP earlier this month. Both men are now expected to rally behind the ADC in preparation for 2027 elections.
