Leaked Audio: Monarch Petitions Police Over Alleged Threat To Life By Osun Speaker, Egbedun
The Alasi of Asi in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Oyewale Isaac, has petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone XI, Osogbo, over an alleged threat to his life by the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun.
The monarch, through his lawyer, Chief K.E. Ngwoke, called for the AIG intervention, adding that his life was not safe.
CityMirrorNews had earlier listened to a leaked audio where a man, who identified himself as the speaker, Egbedun, called and threatened the monarch through a woman whose identity is said to be his daughter.
In the leaked audio, the man was heard asking about the whereabouts of the monarch, and the woman at the other end of the call told him Oba Isaac was not around.
The man who introduced himself as the speaker of Osun Assembly in the audio threatened to get the monarch beaten, strip him of his title, and get him remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre.
According to the man in the audio, the monarch has been disrespectful, adding that he would be the one to teach him a lesson.
The man who identified himself as the speaker, Egbedun, in the leaked audio was heard saying, “Good afternoon, this is the speaker, Egbedun talking. I want to send you to Alasi. God has destined that Alasi will be dealt with through me. He has said a lot of things, and I’ve been avoiding him,, but he has done it to the peak.
“I was attacked and Alasi was talking rubbish. He will be arrested and if he is truly a man, he should go and fetch his power wherever he put it. If he comes to Asi tonight, I will ask people to beat him.
“Alasi was cursing me yesterday. God says I will be the one to punish him. They will remove his crown, beat him and I will suspend and make sure he is remanded in Ilesa tomorrow.
“He is an animal. If he is a man, he should come to the palace today. The God Iron will kill him wherever he is. He won’t come back safely.
“Once, I suspend him tomorrow, he should call his godfathers. It won’t be well with him and his family. This is total respect. If he values his life, he should not come to Asi tonight. If he dares to come tonight.”
Meanwhile, the monarch in the petition dated July 29, 2025, accused Egbedun of threatening to kill him if he set foot in the town.
The monarch said the speaker made the threat when he phoned one of his wives, identified as Olori Idowu, calling on the police boss to save his life.
The petition reads in part, “It is our belief that sometime this year, 2025, a young man was illegally arrested by the police within our client’s Area/kingdom upon the instruction of the suspect. Rr. Hon Adewale Olumide Egbedun for committing no wrong. The said young man was detained for a number of weeks or thereabouts and later charged in court on a trumped-up charge.
“The said young man was later remanded at the correctional centre under the influence of the suspect, who used his position as the speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly to secure the remand.
“Whilst the young man whose name our client does not know and who is not also known to our client was being taken to Correctional Centre llesa, our client’s attention was drawn to the case by some respected members of the village who also told our client to call the suspect to order being an indigene.
“It is our brief that our client, in order to confirm what transpired between the said young man and the suspect, call the suspect. But rather than the suspect to humble himself and explain, the suspect ridiculed our client and boasted that the young man would be tortured to mention the name of our client as one of those after the life of the suspect.
“Our client briefed us that after the conversation with the suspect, the suspect called one of our client’s wives, Olori Idowu, and threatened to kill our client.
“The suspect boasted to kill our client should he return home on the 27th of July 2025. The call was made by the suspect via his phone number 09060010006 at about 2:31pm on the 27th of July, 2025.
“Our client has evidence wherein this bloodthirsty man vowed to kill him anytime soon and shall provide same to the police at the point of investigation of this case.
“Sir, our client has not been able to return to his palace in Asi due to the threats proceeding out of the mouth of this suspect who should ordinarily be a law keeper. The suspect has specifically threatened to kill our client if he should return to his palace in Odo-Otin Local Government Area, Osun State.
“Our client’s life as we write this petition is in palpable danger and there is no end in sight of this danger and what this evil man may do.”
As at the time of filing this report, neither Egbedun or his spokesperson, Olamide Tiamiyu, has denied the statement or reacted to the development.
