The Osun Country Club has donated food items and the sum of ₦1 million to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Orphanage Home, Jaleyemi, Osogbo, Osun state , as part of its maiden annual humanitarian outreach programme.

The donation was made on Monday, December 29, during a visit by the club’s leadership and members to the orphanage, where they also shared goodwill messages with the children and caregivers in the spirit of Christmas and community service.

Speaking at the event, the President of Osun Country Club, Oloye Abiola Falayajo, said the visit was aimed at appreciating God and acknowledging the selfless efforts of individuals and institutions caring for the less privileged in society.

According to him, the outreach marks the beginning of an annual programme that will see the club visit orphanage homes across Osun State, beyond Osogbo.

“This is our maiden outreach as Osun Country Club. Every year, by the grace of God, we will be going across orphanage homes in different towns and cities in Osun State to touch lives. We believe this support will be ongoing,” Falayajo said.

Falayajo stressed that while the government has a role to play in social welfare, it cannot shoulder the responsibility alone, calling on corporate bodies, institutions and well-meaning individuals to complement government efforts.

“We can’t leave everything to the government. Organisations like Osun Country Club must support what the government is doing, especially in areas like welfare and infrastructure,” he added.

Falayajo described the children at the orphanage as “the leaders of tomorrow,” expressing confidence that among them are future presidents, governors, doctors and national leaders.

Also speaking, Oluomo Sunday Akere, a member of the club, commended the management of the orphanage for their dedication and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon them.

“As you take good care of these children, God will take care of your own children. We pray these kids will grow to become great leaders in Nigeria,” he said.

Receiving the delegation, representatives of the Catholic Diocese of Osogbo expressed gratitude to the club.

Speaking on behalf of the proprietor, Bishop John Akinkunmi Oyejola, and the hospital administrator, Reverend Father Simeon Oyetunmbi and Reverend Sister Cecilia Veronica Ibitara, OSF, Sister Elizabeth Akinlotan (OSF), thanked the club for its generosity and assured members of continued prayers.

“We are deeply grateful for your love and support for these children. The good Lord will honour you and grant you more testimonies of joy,” Sister Elizabeth said.

In a related development, the club also marked a major milestone in its institutional growth with the official hoisting of the Osun Country Club flag on its permanent site, located close to the Osun State Secretariat.

Speaking on the development, Architect Gbenga Akintola, Facilities Secretary of the club and Chairman of the Project Planning and Design Committee, described the moment as historic, noting that the site covers about 10 acres of land.

He said the flag-hoisting symbolised the club’s long-term vision and commitment to sustainable development, adding that the permanent site would host facilities designed to promote social interaction, economic activities and overall development in Osun State.

“This is a very special moment for our great club. This site will usher in positive social and economic development for Osun State and Nigeria at large,” he said.

According to Akintola, the project, driven by the collective efforts of club members, is expected to contribute significantly to the social and economic growth of the state and further position the Osun Country Club as a development-oriented institution.
