National Health Fellows Rep in Ibadan North-East Launches Digital Health Innovation AI to end maternal mortality

As part of the efforts to reduce maternal mortality, a digital health Innovation, MAAMi ANC & PNC Reminder App has been launched in Ibadan North-East, Oyo State.

The digital Innovation according to the representative of the National Health Fellows Capstone Project in Ibadan North-East, Gbadamosi Taoheed Alade is introduced to promote safe motherhood through technology, awareness and access to care.

At the programme held in Ibadan on Wednesday, November 26, Alade said that the project with an ambitious goal: to reduce maternal mortality in Nigeria by 40% before the year 2030, explained that MAAMi ANC & PNC Reminder App, a hybrid, multilingual, fully web-based innovation designed to support every pregnant woman and nursing mother in the community.

Built with dialect support, voice recognition, and an intelligent AI-powered chatbot, the MAAMi App, he said, ensures inclusiveness for mothers regardless of their mobile device type, language, or literacy level.

He further explained: “This solution aims to make maternal care more accessible, reliable, and safe.The project sets an ambitious goal: to reduce maternal mortality in Ibadan North-East by 40% before the year 2030._

“The project engaged with key leaders at the state and local levels”, he explained

He said the milestone achievement aligned with the broader vision of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Acknowledging the role of some stakeholders who contributed to the success of the project, Alade extended gratitude to Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, Oyo SWAp Coordination Officer, Dr. Oluwatunmise Adeagbo

“Special appreciation goes to the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Oyo State, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, and the Oyo SWAp Coordination Officer, Dr. Oluwatunmise Adeagbo, whose support has been instrumental.

“Gratitude is also extended to the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, for fostering grassroots innovation and support, also to Hon. Dr. Abiodun Babalola, Member representing Ibadan North-East Constituency I, for his encouragement.

“Acknowledgement also goes to Dr. Kunle Adedoyin, Medical Officer of Health, Ibadan North-East; Dr. Victor Mankajuola, NHF Mentor; and all Officers-in-Charge (OICs), Maternal and Child Health (MCH) officers, Monitoring & Evaluation teams, and the LGA Technical Coordinator for their dedication to improving maternal health outcomes.

“To all stakeholders community leaders, traditional institutions, health workers, partners, and residents,the project team expresses deep appreciation for embracing an innovation designed to save lives and improve maternal well-being across the LGA”.
