The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Thursday announced an increase in the cost of obtaining a Nigerian Standard Passport.
A press statement released in Abuja and signed by NIS Public Relations Officer ACI A.S. Akinlabi explained that the new fee for a 32-page passport with 5-year validity is now set at N100,000 and a 64-page passport with 10-year validity is now N200,000.
Prior to the latest price hike, the NIS had, on September 1, 2024, increased the fees for the 32-page passport booklet previously charged at thirty-five thousand naira (N35,000.00) to fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00) and the 64-page booklet from seventy thousand naira (N70,000.00) to one hundred thousand naira (N100,000.00).
According to the statement, the upward price review will take effect on 1st September, 2025, and will only affect fees for applications made in Nigeria.
The service stated further that the fees for applications made by Nigerians in the diaspora “remain unchanged at $150 for 32 pages with 5-year validity and $230 for 64 pages with 10-year validity”.
