Money Laundering: EFCC Declares Socialite Aisha Achimugu Wanted

Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), on Friday declared Abuja businesswoman and socialite, Aisha Achimugu, wanted for criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

“The public is hereby notified that AISHA SULAIMAN ACHIMUGU, whose photograph appears above is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Criminal Conspiracy and Money Laundering. Achimugu, 51, is an indigene of Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State and her last known address is: 6C, Rudolf Close, Maitama, Abuja,” the anti-graft agency said in a notice published on its social media handles on Friday with the picture of the socialite.
In the notice, EFCC asked anyone with useful information as to whereabouts of Aisha Achimugu to contact its office in its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices or through 08093322644; its e-mail address: info@efcc.gov.ng or the nearest Police Station and other security agencies.”
The wanted notice was signed by the spokesperson for EFCC, Dele Oyewale.
The declaration of the socialite wanted followed report that she has fled the country after she was invited for interrogation by the EFCC
There were also reports that EFCC had obtained a court warrant to declare Achimugu wanted.

The wanted notice on ACHIMUGU
EFCC, according to report by Premium Times had in letter, dated 4 March 2025 and signed by Adebayo Adeniyi, its acting zonal director in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, invited Achimugu to provide clarifications in a corruption case relating to her under investigation.
“This commission is currently investigating a case in which the need to obtain certain clarification from you becomes imperative,” the letter reads.
In view of the above, you are kindly requested to attend an interview with the undersigned through the Head of Investigation on Wednesday, 5th March 2025, by 10:00 hours prompt,” it added.
Aisha Achimugu hugged media headlines in January 2024 when she threw a a lavish seven-day birthday party to marker her 50th birthday at Calivigny Island and Silversands in Grenada; as well as in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
The birthday celebration attended 2024, held from January 16 to 23, 2024 in Grenada.
The seven-day carnival-like party on Calivigny Island saw her and her guests explore different locations and activities at the swanky resort.
Artistes who performed at the events included Chinedu Okoli, aka Flavour; Adekunle Gold, Aituaje Iruobe, aka Waje; and Ahmed Ololade, aka Asake.
Aisha was married to Sulaiman Achimugu, a former Managing Director of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company Limited, who died from COVID-19 complications in 2020.
