Protest Turns Violent: Kano Youths Burn Police Vehicles
Youths in Kano went on the rampage on Monday when they set vehicles at the Rano Divisional Police Station on fire following the death of a suspect, Abdullahi Musa in custody.
Musa who was arrested on Sunday after being accused of a traffic offence, was said to have died during interrogation.
The youths began the protest about the development on a peaceful note. But things later went wild as the youths damaged part of the police station and started burning vehicles.
The incident was confirmed by the Kano Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the incident.
The PUNCH quotes Haruna as saying: “It was part of the police station that was destroyed by the protesters
“The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, alongside the Chairman, Rano LGA, Mallam Mohammed Naziru Ya’u, conducted an on-the-spot assessment visit to Rano Divisional Headquarters, Rano Local Government Area, Kano State following the unfortunate incident that led to the death of one and attack on the Divisional Police Headquarters Rano, today, Monday, 26th May, 2025.”
