Panic As Anambra Govt Uncovers 30 Graves Inside Hotel

Anambra State’s security outfit, Operation Udo Ga-Achi (Agunechemba), has demolished Udoka Golden Point Hotel, also known as “La Cruise Hotel,” located along the Onitsha-Owerri Road.
The hotel was found to be a haven for kidnappers and other criminal activities.
The demolition followed shocking discoveries, including over 30 partitioned graves on the top floor of the two-story building, a shrine, live ammunition, and other suspicious items.
A statement shared on X, on Saturday, confirmed the uncovering of these items, which were part of a broader investigation into criminal hideouts across the state.
Security operatives also recovered blood-stained objects and live cartridges, which were handed over to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office in Awkuzu.
The security team leader, in a video shared on Sunday, described the scene, saying, “We found a shrine, live ammunition, and cartridges while removing the pot used for their rituals. The pot, containing blood, has been handed over to the police as evidence.”
He also mentioned that the top floor of the hotel contained well-partitioned graves for more than 30 individuals, alongside the shrine used for spiritual activities.
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Christian Aburime, confirmed the demolition, stating that it was part of an ongoing investigation linking the hotel to kidnapping operations.
He noted that the local community had previously reported hearing frequent gunshots at night but were too fearful to speak out due to potential reprisals.
“The hotel was demolished after thorough investigation revealed it was a kidnappers’ den. We discovered graves, army uniforms, live cartridges, and other incriminating items. The local community had long been plagued by criminal activities,” Aburime explained.
He added that the government’s newly enacted Homeland Security Law of 2025 gives citizens and law enforcement more authority to take decisive action against criminal elements.
“We are making significant progress in flushing out criminals from Anambra State. This drastic action is yielding positive results. More buildings linked to crimes such as kidnapping, robbery, and hired killings will be demolished, and their owners prosecuted,” he assured.
