Aiyedatiwa Becomes Ondo 7th Governor
Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been sworn in as the 7th governor of Ondo State at a ceremony that took place at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, the state capital.
First to be worn in was the Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami. Aiyedatiwa was sworn in thereafter around 12:59 pm.
The ceremony was attended by the family members of Aiyedatiwa and Adelami.
There were also dignitaries like the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, Lagos state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji at the event.
The event was still attended by former governors of Osun state, Chief Bisi Akande and Chief Olusegun Osoba. Dr Olusegun Mimiko, former governor of Ondo state, and the Minister of Youth Development, Hon Ayodele Olawande were also present.
Some current and past members members of the National Assembly and other dignitaries were there as well.
Earlier, a statement issued by Aiyedatiwa’s spokesperson, Ebenezer Adeniyan in Akure, the governor had pardoned 43 convicts to mark his inauguration.
The statement said the pardon followed the recommendation by the State Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy, chaired by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Kayode Ajulo.
