Police Dismiss Viral Video Claiming Bandit Attack In Osun
The Osun State Police Command has dismissed claims in a viral video alleging that travellers were attacked by bandits at Omi Funfun, Ora Igbomina, in Ifedayo Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement on Monday, the command’s spokesman, Abiodun Ojelabi, clarified that the alleged attack did not occur in Osun but in Kwara State.
He said, “The Police Command wishes to clarify and inform the general public that the trending video on social media has nothing to do with Osun State.
“The alleged attack occurred on 18th August, 2025, around Rore/Arandun area, Kwara State.”
Ojelabi warned against misleading reports, noting that tagging incidents from other states to Osunwithin causes unnecessary panic.
“The Command therefore enjoins the general public to disregard the viral video/information and warns against tagging such video, which happened in another State, to have happened in Osun State, and spreading or peddling of unconfirmed/unverified story/news,” the statement partly read.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, also assured me to go residents of reinforced security the state.
