Air Force strikes Kankara Hideout, Rescues 76 Victims From Bandits
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a major blow to banditry in Katsina State, destroying the hideout of notorious kingpin Babaro and rescuing 76 kidnapped victims, including women and children.
The daring operation, carried out on Saturday morning, targeted Pauwa Hill in Kankara Local Government Area-one of Babaro’s most fortified enclaves.
According to officials, the victims freed were those abducted during the recent attack on Unguwan Mantau in Malumfashi Local Government Area. Tragically, one child lost his life during the ordeal.
Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed the operation, describing it as a “renewed show of force” by security agencies against criminal networks.
“This breakthrough reflects the new momentum of security operations across Katsina. The strike is part of a broader strategy to dismantle bandit hideouts, weaken their networks, and end the cycle of killings, kidnappings, and extortion that have tormented innocent citizens,” Mu’azu said.
He praised the synergy between the Air Force, Army, and other security agencies, noting that coordinated air and ground offensives were gradually restoring public confidence.
The state government, he added, will continue to provide logistics, intelligence support, and community engagement to sustain the momentum.
Mu’azu also urged residents to remain vigilant and share timely information to aid military operations. “With the bravery of our forces and the resilience of our people, Katsina will overcome these enemies of peace,” he assured.
