Lekki Freeport Terminal Receives Newly Elected President-General Of Maritime Union Of Nigeria

The newly elected president-General of the Maritime Union of Nigeria, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi and his national executives on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, paid an official visit to the Management of Lekki Freeport Terminal under the leadership of Mr Christophe Cassang

Comrade Francis Bunu Abi appreciated the management of LFT for the existing bilateral relationship with the National body of MWUN.

He assured the management of LFT of their commitment to sustaining the convivial relationship re-emphasising the need for improvement in bi-communication and mutual respect.

The PG also guided the audience that the national body, after consulting with their district/unit chapter have some issues for elaborate discussion between the Union and the Management of LFT with a view to managing the strategy of continuous improvement for the staff and business entity of Lekki Freeport Terminal.

The CEO of Lekki Freeport Terminal, Mr Christophe Cassang, assured the President -General and his national executives of his commitment to working with the union in transparency and mutual respect.

In his remarks , the General Manager , Government Relations and Security, Lekki Freeport Terminal, Mr Fubara Awanta reiterated that the Management of Lekki Freeport Terminal has the interest of the staff at heart which necessitated the availability of a people’s signed Collective Bargaining Agreement between the terminal and the Union in 2024 despite the terminal going live commercial in April 2023.

Lekki Freeport Terminal is a business entity in the CMA- CGM Group.
LFT is currently the only container terminal operator with a 45-year sub-concession agreement from Lekki Port, situated at the Lagos Free Zone.
