LAUTECH Students Protest Lack Of Facilities

Students of the College of Agriculture and Renewable Natural Resources at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Iseyin campus, took to the streets on Monday to express their dissatisfaction with the institution’s management.

The primary grievance centers on the absence of essential facilities required for their practical coursework, despite each student having paid approximately N50,000 for farm equipment and related materials.

The protest, initiated by 400-level students, highlighted the lack of necessary infrastructure for effective learning.

One student, preferring anonymity, stated, “We are already in the 400-level when we are to be exposed to practicals in various fields, livestock production especially, but the campus lacks all these facilities.”

Another student lamented the absence of medical facilities, saying, “I had a crisis today, no hospital. We don’t have any hospital in the school.”

Additional concerns raised include the high costs of accommodation and transportation, as the campus is situated far from the main town, making daily commutes both challenging and expensive.

Students also criticized the infrequent presence of lecturers, with one noting, “It is not easy for us to be shuttling between Ogbomoso and Iseyin.”

The protesters have called on the university administration and the state government to address these pressing issues promptly to ensure a conducive learning environment.
