Obidient Movement In Osun Celebrates Peter Obi’s 64th Birthday with Humanitarian Outreach

Members of the Obidient Movement in Osun State have chosen the path of meaningful impact as the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, marks his 64th birthday.

To commemorate the occasion, the Osun State chapter of the Obidient Movement visited the Catholic Orphanage Home in the Jaleyemi area of Osogbo, where they donated writing materials to the children.

The donated items included exercise books, pens, pencils, erasers, mathematical sets, and biscuits, all distributed in honour of their leader’s birthday.

In addition, the movement donated food items—such as rice, beans, vegetable oil, and biscuits—to the School for Persons with Disabilities in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Speaking during the outreach, the State Coordinator, Engr. Sunday Olowu, said the initiative was part of efforts to celebrate Peter Obi’s birthday through acts of kindness and community service.

“This act reflects our appreciation for our leader and our commitment to giving back to society,” Olowu said. He also urged stakeholders in the education sector to contribute actively to the provision of quality and morally sound education.

“We chose the path of meaningful impact by distributing writing materials to support over 300 pupils living with disabilities as part of the activities to celebrate the birthday anniversary of our principal, Peter Obi,” he added.

Apart from the educational supplies, the group also donated one bag of rice, one bag of red beans, and three kegs of vegetable oil to the orphanage home in Osogbo.

As part of the celebration, the Obidient Movement awarded a scholarship to the best graduating student with disabilities and extended financial support to 25 students of Cicosema College of Health, Osogbo. Each recipient received ₦100,000, bringing the total scholarship fund to ₦2,500,000.

Appreciating the gesture, the Principal of the School for Persons with Disabilities in Osogbo, Mrs. Kolawole Risikat, thanked the movement for its support of education in the state and called on other groups to emulate their example.
