LG Chairman Appoints 100 Aides, Days After Hiring 130 Special Assistants

The Chairman of Obio-Akpor LGA of Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo, has appointed an additional 100 special assistants.

He made this known in a post on Saturday on his verified X handle.

“I have appointed an additional one hundred persons as Special Assistants to help me achieve my plans for my people,” he wrote.

Some of the the appointees include Augustina Élodi, Obi Chima, Abi Chinazor Clara, Ginikachukwu Onyeagusi, Chigozie Emmanuel Esinulo, Sunday Confidence Onyinyechi, Nworgu Namdi Emmanuel.

Earlier this month, the LGA chairman appointed 130 new special advisers.

“I have appointed the following persons as my Special Assistants,” he had said.

“I congratulate them, and call on them to serve diligently, in the interest of Obio/Akpor local government. Their appointments takes immediate effect.”

In July 2024, when he was caretaker committee chairman of the LGA, Ihunwo appointed 100 special assistants.

The politician is an ally of Siminalayi Fubara, governor of the state.

In October of the same year, he scrubbed Nyesom Wike’s name off the administrative block of the council secretariat.
